Solo Shows

‘COLOUR, ART AND HEALING' - 2007

This January  saw a large exhibition of new work go on display at the South Devon Healthcare Trust Gallery .  These paintings were a mixture of realism, landscape and  semi abstract works,  executed in acrylic paints on canvas.  The main  focus of the collection was  again on colour;  however this time  Elizabeth put the  emphasis on the  healing and uplifting qualities of colour, especially in a healthcare environment.  Afterwards the exhibition moved to Exeter , to be shown in the the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Gallery , and then onto The Willow Resturant, Totnes.

‘DOGS' - 2006

Earlier this spring also saw a small, developing exhibition entitled “ Dogs go on display . These pictures are bold and modern in style, executed in oils paints and start with that most iconic image of ‘Englishness' - the English bulldog. This body of work is in the process of being expanded.

‘Trout' - 2006

In 2006 Elizabeth 's new series of paintings sees her return to watercolour painting, studying the trout that she is now so determinedly pursuing up and down the waterways of Devon . (Luckily the painting of fish is often more assuredly successful than the catching of those wily brown trout!) . Elizabeth is proud to announce that her unique trout watercolours are now also on sale through Orvis Co, in the Exeter , Harrogate and Edinburgh branches.

‘Colour' – 2005/2006

Her solo exhibition ‘COLOUR!' was held in Torquay in 2005, and subsequently in Totnes in 2006. Inspired by two meetings with St. Ives legend Sir Terry Frost, and freed from the constraints of realism, a new ‘abstract' direction allowed Elizabeth 's passion for colour, shape and pattern to come to the fore. Soon her admiration for the work of Patrick Heron, Matisse, Paul Klee and Goethe added another dimension to her studies, together with a reappraisal of the paintings of W.M.J. Turner. Together, this amalgamation of concepts brought about the resulting ‘ Colour !' exhibition – evocative, colourful landscapes that are a celebration of the atmosphere and drama of our natural world. Again, this was a very successful show.

‘The Art of Imagination' – 1999

Elizabeth 's highly successful first solo exhibition entitled ‘The Art of Imagination' was held at Cockington Court in Devon in 1999 under her maiden name of Elizabeth Pope. The exhibition showcased an absolutely amazing array of paintings and crafts that Elizabeth had slowly worked on through the ups and downs of her long illness: silk-painting, weaving, needlepoint, pottery, sculpture, hats, jewellery, patchwork and quilting. The show was a sell out.

Group Shows

Elizabeth has also exhibited frequently in group shows (Devon Art Society and the C Visual Arts Festival), from 1992 onwards.
